Introducing BeeGuards in Croatia
On 3rd of February, BeeGuards project is presented in the biggest beekeeping fair in Croatia (19th international beekeeping fair, Gudovac, Croatia). Marin Kovačić from Faculty of Agrobiotechnical Sciences Osijek presented the main objectives and expectations of the project and invited beekeepers to join our activities in future.

BeeGuards meets 30.000 beekeepers
A nice article in the Austrian beekeeper magazine “Bienen Aktuell” reached out to 30.000 beekeepers. The association currently represents approximately 30,000 members who collectively manage over 400,000 bee colonies. On average, an Austrian beekeeper owns 16 bee colonies. All giving an average annual honey production in Austria is around 5,000 tons.

BeeGuards presenting itself on television.
Our Macedonian colleagues from the university Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, Goran Aleksovski and Aleksandar Uzunov got primetime on National television. The team is the lead of the Work Package 2, where focus is on producing more resilient bees via natural selection into honeybee breeding programs for Varroa resistance, study the existence and the mechanisms of natural selection due to higher Varroa infestation, testing the new accelerated breeding cycle towards rapid breeding progress, and finally having focus on cryopreservation of honey bee embryos. BeeGuards is in the proces of connecting.
The Danish Beekeepers Association
May we present our wonderful team. There is 27 of them. Today Danmarks Biavlerforening, 9_DBF. www.biavl.dk. The association was founded back on July 5th, 1866. There is 6.500 members representing 90 % of all beekeepers in Denmark. There are around 120.000 colonies. Around 1 % are commercial beekeepers, 5-8 parttime beekeepers and the rest is amateur beekeepers having less then 10 colonies. There are 80 local beekeeper clubs.
